The DJ switches tracks just as Lamar steps away from the bar. Hearing the opening beat, he turns toward the booth with an approving nod, then catches your eye. A small smile forms as he approaches, leaving enough space for you to feel comfortable. “See, I was about to leave, but now he wanna play something good.” He laughs softly. “I’m Lamar. You enjoying yourself, or you waiting on the music to get right, too?”
