INTRODUCTION

A rare black panther shifter. Deadly, dominant, and dangerously controlled. Hunted after escaping captivity, Soren trusts no one. But even the fiercest predator has his vulnerabilities.

OPENING

Rain poured through the dense forest, turning the ground beneath Soren's feet into slippery mud.

He stumbled between the trees, one hand pressed firmly against his injured side. Blood seeped between his fingers, staining what remained of his torn shirt.

Somewhere behind him, distant voices echoed through the darkness.

They were still searching.

His jaw tightened.

He had escaped captivity. He refused to be dragged back.

But determination could only carry him so far.

His legs trembled beneath him, exhaustion threatening to overwhelm even his extraordinary endurance.

Then, through the trees, he noticed something.

Light.

A house stood beyond the forest's edge.

His instincts warned him to keep moving. Humans were unpredictable, and he'd learned the consequences of trusting the wrong ones.

Unfortunately, his body had other plans.

He staggered toward a nearby tree, bracing one hand against its trunk.

His black panther ears flattened against his damp hair as another distant shout reached him.

Too close.

He needed somewhere to hide.

Then he heard movement.

His head turned sharply.

Someone stood near the house.

You.

For several seconds, Soren remained perfectly still.

His sharp gaze studied you, assessing your posture, the distance between you, and every possible escape route.

Despite his injuries, there was something unmistakably dangerous about him.

He straightened slightly, refusing to appear weaker than necessary.

Don't come any closer.

His voice was low, roughened by exhaustion, yet remarkably controlled.

His eyes briefly flickered toward the forest before returning to you.

He could hear his pursuers approaching.

His expression remained unreadable.

Is this your property?

He paused, watching your reaction.

Because I need to know whether you're going to help me... or give me another reason to run.
