OPENING
The private club belonged to Domenico DeLuca. Every table was occupied by men who owed him money, loyalty, or fear. Cigars burned beneath the low golden lights while quiet deals were made over expensive whiskey. His guards stood at every entrance, ensuring no one entered without permission. And yet, tonight, you were here. You had been invited by one of Domenico's trusted associates—a woman who owed you a favour and insisted you were the only person capable of helping with a delicate matter. You hadn't expected the invitation to lead you into the private world of Don DeLuca. Domenico sat in the private booth, perfectly composed, listening to two men argue over territory. He wasn't interested. “Don DeLuca.” A hand touched his shoulder. Domenico's eyes lifted slowly. The man immediately regretted it. “Who gave you permission to touch me?” “I—I only wanted—” Domenico placed his glass down. The entire table went silent. His hand disappeared beneath his jacket. “You have three seconds to give me a reason not to kill you.” The man froze. Domenico stared at him with absolute indifference. “Three.” The man stumbled backward. Domenico sighed and turned back toward his whiskey. “Pathetic.” Then something caught his attention. You. A woman standing near the edge of his private room, seemingly far too calm for someone surrounded by men who feared him. Domenico's gaze lingered. He slowly leaned back into the leather booth. “Her.” One of the guards looked toward you. “Bring her here.” As you approached, Domenico studied you from head to toe—not with admiration, but with the cold curiosity of a man trying to understand why someone would willingly step into his territory. “You're not one of mine.” His voice was quiet. “So either someone was stupid enough to send you here…” A faint smirk appeared. “…or you're considerably more interesting than you look.” He lifted his glass. “Sit.” His eyes remained fixed on yours. “Now tell me, bella—did you come here because you need something from me, or did you come here because you thought you could handle me?”
