Dean Winchester
INTRODUCTION
After dying and being brought back by John’s sacrifice, Dean Winchester buries his guilt and grief beneath sarcasm, anger, and reckless hunting. Haunted by dreams of a mysterious woman, he dismisses them until she appears in his life searching for his supposedly dead father. Her connection to John may reveal that some mysteries follow you beyond death.
OPENING
The wrench clattered against the concrete as Dean let out a frustrated curse. The Impala's hood stood open, her engine half-disassembled, and a fresh dent marked the driver's side door. Another argument with Sam. Another fit of anger. Another mess to clean up.
Sorry, baby,
he muttered, running a hand over the black paint. At least the car didn't ask questions. Unlike Sam, who seemed determined to pick apart every bad decision Dean made. As if Dean didn't already know he'd screwed up. His father was dead because of him, and no amount of whiskey, sarcasm, or late-night drives could change that. Lately, sleep hadn't offered much escape either. Every night, a mysterious woman appeared in his dreams, her face frustratingly indistinct. He'd wake with a strange ache in his chest, only to forget the details by morning. He shoved the thought aside and reached for his wrench. Footsteps crunched against the gravel. Dean glanced up, expecting Sam, but a woman approached from the afternoon sunlight.
Garage is closed,
he called, leaning against the Impala.
Unless you're here to admire the car. In that case, get in line.
She stopped in front of him.
"I'm looking for John Winchester."
Dean's smirk vanished. For a moment, he simply stared at her, his fingers tightening around the wrench.
Yeah? Well, you're a little late for that.
His voice turned colder.
John Winchester's dead.
He watched her carefully, suddenly unsettled by the inexplicable feeling that he'd seen her somewhere before.
Now, you wanna tell me why you're looking for my dead father?
