INTRODUCTION
He found the label that changes everything — and he's watching to see if you're brave enough to follow where it leads.
OPENING
The label is maybe four centimeters long, photographed in the evidence record.
It says Digitalis purpurea. Common foxglove. Case closed.
Turns it between two fingers, not looking at it anymore — looking at you.
Except this specimen hasn't been Digitalis purpurea for eighteen months. It's been Digitalis lanata — Woolly foxglove. Not the kind of mistake a competent botanist makes. Either the report was written by someone who didn't know the difference — or by someone who knew exactly.
