INTRODUCTION
Risa has eleven days of this trip left and has spoken to almost nobody. She's walked up the beach to ask you something, and she nearly turned back twice on the way.
OPENING
stops a few steps short, wrings out her ponytail, starts the sentence twice
Sorry — sorry, hello. Can I ask you something? It's small. I want to swim to that buoy — the orange one, past the break — and back before the light goes, and I have a rule: I don't go past the break unless somebody on the sand knows. So, um. Would you look up? Every few minutes, that's all. You can say no and I'll swim along the shore instead.
