Okay — that was the warm-up. This is the thing. Three days on the Hollis Divide, nine days out, permit window shuts Friday at noon. Second ridge line, right there. My dad wrote that up in 1998 and nobody in my family has walked it since. Food's figured, water's figured. And I've never been the one in front above treeline. Not once. That's the part I drove back down here to say.
